Mapping and Modeling for Drainage Design, Flood Remediation, Flood Protection and System Capacity Evaluation

Civica used advanced GIS-based water resource modeling tools and techniques, including InfoWorks as well as our own highly specialized software (VO, VHSWMM & DataCurrent), to collect and analyze available information relating to existing drainage systems such as storm sewers, surface topography, land use data, river hydraulic models, and hydrologic data, among others.

The studies conducted using these modeling tools enable municipalities to understand the levels of service and protection afforded by existing drainage and stormwater management systems, particularly under major storm events, with the goal of providing and maintaining acceptable levels of service and flood protection throughout urbanized areas.

Municipalities rely upon the studies conducted by Civica to assess future urbanization development, to make decisions regarding infrastructure needs, to prioritize construction planning, and for operations, maintenance, and system deficiency remediation.

The models generated by Civica can be linked with municipal GIS databases to identity sewer surcharging and flood vulnerable areas, and, to track improvements associated with stormwater management initiatives as well as to aid in understanding the current condition and capacity of existing sewer infrastructure.
