INFLOW AND INFILTRATION REDUCTION
Our experts implement simple, environmentally safe projects to create proactive and reactive solutions to sanitary sewer capacity issues.
BENEFITS OF OUR SERVICES
Civica works to reduce the risk of liability associated with I/I and to provide the following benefits:

ELIMINATE I/I RELATED FLOODING
Rainfall derived I/I is becoming more of a concern for sanitary sewer system capacity with the increasing instances of basement flooding and sewage overflows to the environment. Our proven I/I reduction methodologies will greatly reduce the flow of extraneous water entering your system, resulting in a net benefit to the community.

MINIMIZING CAPITAL EXPENDITURES
With the sustainable population and community growth, it is essential to avoid unnecessary costs of repairing or building infrastructure and decrease costs to residents with more efficient sewage management.

WE DO IT ALL
We go beyond simple data collection. Our proprietary software tools assist with data quality verification, asset and defect data organization, and the development and implementation of solutions to improve current conditions and capacity of existing infrastructure.

FAST DEVELOPMENT APPROVALS
Want to start building? We investigate and help with sewage capacity for developing lands to get you approvals faster, resulting more timely realization of home sales revenue.
OUR I/I REDUCTION TOOLBOX

FLOW MONITORING
Monitoring of the dry weather and wet weather flows within the sanitary sewer infrastructure is performed and the resulting data is analyzed in relation to rainfall data. Areas with increased flow rates during major rainfall events will indicate possible I/I.

SMOKE TESTING
Our experienced field technicians conduct smoke testing of problem areas to identify the possible source of I/I.

DYE TESTING
To further confirm that the suspected I/I source is channeling rainwater into sanitary line, a dye testing procedure is performed.

MAINTENANCE HOLE INSPECTIONS
We assess maintenance holes (MHs) conditions to detect areas of I/I based on the location relative to surrounding topography; cracked or broken seals within the shaft; and/or evidence of I/I within the shaft (stains, dripping, etc).

CLOSED-CIRCUIT TELEVISION (CCTV)
This video inspection of sewer mainlines, laterals, and manholes provide an inside look at the condition of your sewer systems to identify sources of leakage, causes of blockages, and possible need for structural repairs

WET WEATHER INSPECTIONS
Significant coordination and planning of rain events and selected pipes are completed to discover I/I entering buried sewers. We determine the impacts of laterals, foundations of drains, and rapid infiltration of groundwater when there are high antecedent moisture conditions to discover additional defect areas.
DATACURRENT
Detailed data about the I/I sources are recorded in our internally developed software, DataCurrent. DataCurrent is used to generate graphical, map-oriented reports to use for efficient planning efforts to remediate the problem sources.
