RED HILL STORMWATER MONITORING CITY OF HAMILTON - PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Civica was retained by the City of Hamilton to provide time-series flow measurements and TSS pollutographes at the inlet and outlet of nine stormwater management ponds located along the Red Hill Parkway in the City of Hamilton. Area/ Velocity Flow meters were installed on the inlet and outlet pipes of each SWM facility to capture the rising and falling hydrograph of flows into and out of the ponds during storm events. The data was collected wirelessly and transmitted to Civica’s DataCurrent website, which can be accessed by the City through their own DataCurrent account. TSS grab sampling was also being conducted for rainfall events equal to or greater than 25mm. The samples were analyzed for TSS concentrations and the information was used to evaluate the relative TSS removal efficiency of the facilities. Civica built “semi” automated samplers that were deployed prior to rainfall events and grab samples at a preprogrammed interval were obtained allowing for efficiency in manpower and better sampling techniques.
