SANITARY SYSTEM FLOW MONITORING & SMOKE TESTING - PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Civica was retained by the City of Thorold as a subcontractor to Associated Engineering for an I/I reduction investigation project which involved flow monitoring and fog testing in the City. Flow monitoring included services for eight (8) flow monitors (one (1) permanent monitor and seven (7) flow monitors which are relocated after six (6) weeks to isolate problematic I/I areas) for three (3) months, as well as smoke testing services for a small neighborhood with high I/I identified through flow monitoring. The investigations were completed on time and on budget and the City was very pleased with the robust communication protocol implemented by Civica leading up to the smoke testing. Sources of I/I were identified and documented through GIS-based data collection methods, while photos and videos were also captured.
